Abstract
The reconstruction of burn patients can provide significant improvement in aesthetic, functional, and psychosocial outcomes. Many reconstructive problems can be addressed using variations of scar release and then closure by skin grafts or Z-plasty, which may often be performed by those with burn fellowship training. Many other more advanced reconstructive options also exist, spanning the gamut from local and free flaps to composite allograft tissue transplantation, which typically require involvement of a plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
