Abstract
The tibia is one of the most common bones to be fractured. A mismanaged tibia fracture can have very severe consequences for the patient in the austere environment. Management is based on basic orthopaedic principles of reduction, stabilisation and rehabilitation. Compartment syndrome should always be sought for and prompt fasciotomies carried out if suspected.
