Abstract

In this chapter, the author shares his experience in managing clinicians. He discusses the challenges in managing physicians while referring to his previous chapter on the psychology of geriatricians. In the context of provider productivity, he introduces the concept of patient care units (PCUs) and discusses how they can help clinician’s focus on patient care. He also discusses the importance of supporting the value of the care that geriatricians provide. The value of understanding appropriate coding is also reviewed. The author also discusses the importance of understanding the marketing component to a geriatric practice.
