Abstract
The author tells the story of how he decided to become a geriatrician. He briefly describes his experience in a geriatric fellowship program. After starting his first job with Kaiser-Permanente, he moves to Denver and ultimately becomes President of GeriMed of America, a geriatric medical management company. A life-changing decision to go into private practice leads to the founding and growth of Senior Care of Colorado, which becomes the largest geriatric private practice in the country before being sold to IPC, The Hospitalist Company in 2010.
