Abstract

In legal medicine in particular, it is critical to establish that a forensic medical procedure does not induce alterations at the cellular or histomorphologic levels because histopathologic findings may be helpful or even evidentiary in determining the cause of death [1–3]. Injection of contrast agent into a body carries the risk of causing several artefacts at the histomorphologic level [4, 5]. Therefore, investigations are necessary that lead to descriptions of such artefacts to avoid misinterpretation, especially because artefacts are specific for each angiography method. To date, a detailed analysis of such artefacts has been initiated only for the technique of multiphase postmortem computed tomography angiography (MPMCTA) [6]. Further investigations including different techniques, and contrast agents are essential.
