Atlas of Postmortem Angiography

Abstract

The vessels of the abdominal organs frequently superimpose in maximum intensity projections (MIPs). Variations are common. Contrast substance extravasation occurs frequently around the head of the pancreas. In the early arterial phase, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction is advantageous for orientation in the abdomen and should be used for demonstration. MIP display is mandatory to visualize details, and the combination of 3D and MIP offers the best results. Reconstruction in oblique planes can help to isolate interesting vessels.
