Abstract

The study deals with the doctrinal base of operational employment of air defence missile units (subunits, combat groups) in the light of the relevant publications of the Hungarian national and allied forces. The author collected the determining doctrinal literatures from national and NATO documents. It was established that the integration of the air defence missile combat and its activities, as the basic activity of this branch of service into the air operations, has been doctrinally achieved. A commander of an air defence missile formation, its operational designer gets a logical, clear picture about the role and place of his troops from a doctrine.

Notes

  1. 1.

It remained unchanged, if it can be said that anything remained, since the previous air defence troops, after “vegetation” that took only a couple of years, became completely disbanded and according to the old terminology, the “troop air defence missile and artillery troops” branch remained in the system, although only partially (Author).

  2. 2.

The special area, similarly to the other components, remained unregulated, since the old “Warsaw Contract Armed Forces” type regulations became irrelevant or they could not be synchronized with the NATO doctrines.

  3. 3.

A military doctrine is the official term of a way of thinking which is accepted by the military as relevant in a given period of time, and it can be applied in the existing and future conflicts, for their preparation and for application to achieve success.
