Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to explore the results of monitoring the state of tolerance in the educational environment in Tajikistan. In order to determine the level of tolerance and the types of ethnic stereotypes we have conducted the association experiment at the universities in two regions of Tajikistan: Sogd and Khatlon.

It is clear that the construction of tolerant relations is hardly possible without awareness of the peculiarities of behavior, traditions and habits of different ethnic groups. Sometimes, misunderstanding and rejection happens not only within different ethnic groups, but also in the country at large between different regions, leading to civil war. Tajikistan had such a tragic experience in 1992–1997.

Monitoring the level of tolerance of the students in the conditions of cultural interaction will allow us to explore problem areas, to carry out corrective measures in order to reduce the number of students with negative sentiment in intercultural communication and improve their level of tolerance.

As a part of our researches we have initiated the study of the issues related to the analysis of discourse and social monitoring of origins of ethnic intolerance. Namely, those are: ethnic stereotypes, differences in the axiological picture of the world of different peoples, associative field, forming a tolerant field that could determine the main features of the existing ethnolinguistic and psycholinguistic background of interethnic relations among the youth of Tajikistan, the sources of intolerance. This will also allow us to develop recommendations for the adoption of the complex of measures with the goal to establish and develop tolerance in the educational environment of Tajikistan.
