Abstract
This chapter reviews definitions of sexual assault and rape, the role of sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE), and recommended approaches to recording the patient’s account and performing the physical exam. Evidence-based recommendations for presumptive treatment of sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy are also provided.
