Abstract
The patient had a dual plane breast augmentation in 2002. She developed an inflamed right submammary wound 6 weeks after surgery. Antibiotics were given without resolving the inflammation. The surgeon presumed this was due to a reaction to Maxon suture. She was next seen in 2007 at which time she stated she had right facial palsy 3 months previously that lasted 4–5 days followed by nausea and swelling of breasts that resolved over 1 month. Three days prior to being seen, she palpated a hardness in the right breast. On examination, she had grade 3 capsular contracture on the right. Accolate was started. The discussion included the comment that the Accolate would probably not help; consider mastopexy, capsulotomy, possible replacement of the implant.
