Abstract
Leo Palatinus was created out of unformed stars in the space between Antinoüs and Aquarius in 1785 by Karl-Joseph König (1751–1809), a Jesuit and court astronomer at the observatory at Mannheim, Germany from 1782–1786. He invented the figure to honor his patrons, Karl Theodor, Prince-Elector, Count Palatine and Duke of Bavaria (1724–1799) and his wife, Countess Palatine Elisabeth Auguste of Sulzbach (1721–1794).
