Abstract
The actual estimated incidence of vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) in Europe for the 50–79 years of age category reaches 1 % for women and 0.6 % for men. Considering that nearly two thirds of the fractures remain undiagnosed, symptomatic VCF may be related to serious morbidity and should require serious medical attention.
