Abstract
So now we have a history of the Earth as a sequence of events. It is analogous to describing western history as Egyptian empire, Trojan War, Greece, Roman Empire, Charlemagne, Reformation, American Revolution, French revolution, World War I, and World War II, but not knowing the dates or number of years associated with these events.
I was puzzled by the odd ‘4.’ Why not a nice round 4000 years? And why such a very recent date? And how could anyone know?
