Abstract

This chapter reports patient selection criteria, planning, technique, and results of permanent breast seed implant. In a single 1 h procedure, this technique uses stereotactic localization to permanently implant stranded 103Pd seeds in and around the seroma cavity after lumpectomy for early stage breast cancer. Five-year results for a cohort of 137 patients are excellent in terms of both local control and tolerance.
