Abstract

Finally, in this introduction to peak oil, we need to look at the question of why the concept of peak oil has been so poorly understood. This topic is important, because for many years the ‘mainstream’ forecasters (such as the IEA, US EIA, OPEC, most oil majors, and most consultancies) gave no warning of the recent steep rise in oil price.
