Bioethical Insights into Values and Policy

Part of the book series: Public Health Ethics Analysis ((PHES,volume 4))

Abstract

This chapter describes the causes and consequences of climate change and discusses some of the ethical and policy issues pertaining to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Bioethics scholarship helps individuals and government leaders think about how their decisions impact public health, the economy, social justice, the environment, and the well-being of future generations. A bioethical perspective on climate change can help decision-makers to weigh competing values and consider the global and long-term impacts of their choices.
