Chemotherapy for Ocular Cancers

  • Chapter
  • First Online:

Abstract

Tumors occur in various locations of ocular structures. They may be benign or malignant. At times the tumors are managed non-surgically using pharmacological agents. Many times chemotherapy is used as an adjunct to surgical excision and enucleation. The prognosis of the ocular tumours solely depends on the early diagnosis, nature and the location of the tumor. This chapter extensively discusses about the clinical features, classification, diagnostic criteria for the ocular tumors and neoplasm, chemotherapeutic agents used in orbital and ocular tumors of childhood like retinoblastoma, drugs used for the treatment for the surface neoplasm and the underlying pharmacological modalities.
