Abstract
A least a portion of the left kidney is generally included in the field-of-view and readily visualized; the right kidney is often difficult to visualize on a 180° acquisition. Increased renal activity is associated with liver failure because the kidneys are the secondary route of clearance of the99mTc MPI radiopharmaceuticals. “Hot” or “cold” defects within the kidneys are abnormal and require correlative imaging. Displacement of neighboring organs can result from large renal or pelvic masses.
