Abstract

The small intestine is always visualized due to the normal hepatobiliary clearance of the99mTc MPI radiopharmaceuticals. Duodenogastric reflux of radioactive bile and “hot” jejunal activity can cause reconstruction processing artifacts. The large intestine may be seen if intestinal motility is relatively rapid, or there is a long interval between injection and imaging.
