Abstract
In 1950, the famous Italian physicist Enrico Fermi coined the famous question “Where is everybody?”, referring to the apparent contradiction between the probable existence of many Earth-like planets and the total absence of any evidence of alien civilisations. This has become known as the Fermi paradox. A variety of explanations have been put forward, more or less probable ones, but usually both fascinating and entertaining.
