Abstract
This chapter offers explicit instruction in the area of data collection, a cornerstone to the functional behavioral assessment process. The reader will learn how to conduct a reliable classroom observation using methods appropriate to the target behavior. Additionally, the chapter outlines a variety of data collection methods that allow the user to measure behavior through antecedent-behavior-consequence (ABC) data gathering, event recording, interval recording, duration recording, and/or latency recording.
