Abstract

We define dynamical systems on a complete metric space and we introduce the basic concepts which will be used in the subsequent chapters, such as the omega-limit set, equilibrium points, convergence and stability properties. Some examples are given to illustrate all these notions. In particular the dynamical system generated by a semilinear evolution equation is constructed.
