The book will be a guide to students of chemical engineering, technocrats and researcher’s exploring new techniques to produce sulphur based chemicals using liquid sulphur trioxide and liquid sulphur dioxide. In this chapter, we can summarise the importance of liquid sulphur dioxide and liquid sulphur trioxide for carrying out sulphonation reactions in an innovative way that would not only produce valuable products economically but also would be environment friendly. The author recommends that all existing and future sulphuric acid plants should adopt the ‘Cold Process’ for reducing lower capital, utility & maintenance costs, requiring one-third area and Zero Emission of sulphur dioxide.
