Abstract

In the previous chapter we have exposed some of the fundamental steps of what is now referred to as “Old Fashioned Quantum Mechanics” and that, from 1905 until 1925, had obtained several important results, particularly in the framework of atomic physics, in addition to those we have already told. For example Sommerfeld, hinging on a refinement of the Bohr quantization condition, had been even able to calculate the relativistic corrections to the energy levels of hydrogen.
