Abstract
As the reader will remember, the incapability o classical physics to explain the line structure of atomic spectra was one of the main motivations that led physicist to the search for a new theory: one of the first attempts in this direction was due to Bohr who, just to overcome the difficulties connected with the problem of spectra, postulated the existence of discrete energy levels and the well known relationship (2.5) connecting the emitted/absorbed frequencies and the energy levels.
