Abstract

A 58-year-old male presents to the hospital for knee replacement surgery. The patient has a history of transfusion (at another hospital) some years ago after gastrointestinal bleeding. A type and screen sample (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA anticoagulant) is submitted to the blood bank.
