Abstract

January’s skies are the darkest, clearest and longest of the entire year, and contain some of the most prominent, beautiful and memorable stars and patterns, so it’s the ideal time to begin. From finding your first constellations to star-hopping through the night sky, by month’s end you will have begun to understand the night sky’s hypnotic rhythms. However, for northern hemisphere stargazers, it’s cold outside, so some bite-size stargazing is the way to go.
