Abstract

This book presents a view of the surface conditions on early Earth that is more consistent with the geologic record and the requirements for the origin of life than the standard view that has prevailed for several decades. It is not, and cannot be, definitive. Whatever truths it might contain are, and should be, subject to whatever scientific tests might be applied. As is the case with any model, it should be viewed an appropriate degree of skepticism.
