Abstract
Only careful and continuous patient care can prematurely detect improvements or worsening of the clinical condition during noninvasive ventilation (NIV). Monitoring consists of different levels, and these different aspects must be integrated in a continuous development of events. The purpose of this chapter is to promote a standard protocol, with clinical observation and collection of vital signs at fixed times to improve the chances of success on NIV.
