Abstract
Basing on the oscillator model and the local field theory, more realistic approaches for modelling dispersion and density dependence of the optical constants are derived. The Lorentzian multioscillator model is introduced, as well as several mixing models such like the Maxwell Garnett and the Bruggeman models. Examples include metal island films and porous coatings.
