Abstract
In addition to conditions specific to pregnancy such as eclampsia and peripartum cardiomyopathy, nearly any cardiac condition may occur during pregnancy. Common cardiovascular conditions may occur in 1 % of all pregnant women. Physiological increased volume loading during pregnancy may exacerbate cardiac conditions including valvular disease, shunts, or heart failure. Cardiac imaging examinations in the pregnant patient include radiography, echocardiology, and MRI.
