Abstract

In this introductory chapter the subject matter as well as the methodology of Physics are briefly presented together with a list of the basic equilibrium structures of matter. The main properties of the latter can be obtained by minimizing the internal energy and are expressed in terms of universal physical constants \(\hbar ,c,e,m_{e} ,m_{p} \approx m_{n} \approx u,G.\)
