Abstract

This chapter is the first one that studies a particular class of batch membrane processes and defines their optimal operation. We will start with the model that operates under limiting flux conditions. This kind of process abstraction is one of the most used in the membrane engineering field as it is simple enough and yet it captures process behaviour sufficiently well.
