Abstract
I met Manuel Cardona in 1970, when he came to give a seminar at The Cavendish Laboratory invited by Volker Heine. I was working for my Ph.D. thesis on semiconductor’s surface states under the supervision of Federico García Moliner in Madrid and in collaboration with Volker Heine in Cambridge.
