Abstract

The liver is a large organ with 8 segments, each of which has its own blood supply and bile ducts. Portal tracts each contain a portal vein, hepatic artery and a bile duct. Liver plates are one cell thick and the presence of thicker plates is a sign of liver cell regeneration or proliferation.
