Chinese Standard GJB 2502 for Test Methods of Spacecraft Thermal Control Coatings

Abstract

Spacecraft Thermal control materials such as various paints, OSR, Al-Kapton etc. need to be tested before they are used in spacecraft. Space environment such as electron, proton and UV factors etc. in Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO) or Low Earth Orbit (LEO) have severe degradation effects of solar absorptance, etc. The Chinese standard GJB2502 includes test methods of spacecraft thermal control coatings and covers the measurement of solar absorptance and emissivity, atomic oxygen test, ultraviolet test, electron and proton test, thermal cycle test, combined irradiation test, aero-dynamical environment test, etc. This paper introduces the process and main features of the standard such as test condition, test sample and test facility, etc..
