A Case Study of Business Process Simulation in the Context of Enterprise Engineering

Abstract

The high failure rates occur in many real-life business process reengineering projects discovered that the current methods in business process re-design and reengineering are not effective for supporting the requirements of change. To avoid the limitations of current mainstream workflow based perspective and methodology, the authors proposed a simulation framework in the context of enterprise engineering, named DEMO++. This research aims to apply the DEMO++ based simulation in a real-world case study with the following objectives: to evaluate the advantages, potentials and limitations of DEMO++ based simulation; to further investigate how it can assist in business process change; and to find problems to be improved in the selected process of “Company C”.
