Abstract

In many religions the gods are not immortal. And the gods are not perfect. Gods love, fight, and sometimes die. If god does not die, as in Christianity, the logic of generational renewal is problematic. Why a Son if the Father never dies? But, more relevantly, with perfection of God comes absolute immortality. Humans will never be perfect, and hence the possibility of death will exist alongside the possibility of immortality. Our imperfections, as likely to be exacerbated as cured with endless time, will ultimately always take us to Ragnarok!
