Abstract

The patient was a 29-year-old male laborer status after a high-speed motor cycle injury. He presented to the emergency room with severe pain and swelling to his left wrist. He related that he was thrown off his motorcycle landing on his outstretched hyperextended wrist. Physical examination in the emergency room demonstrated a markedly deformed wrist with a moderate amount of swelling. He complained of paresthesias over the median nerve. Radiographs obtained in the emergency room revealed a displaced trans-scaphoid perilunate fracture dislocation of the left wrist. At that point, under Bier block, a closed reduction was performed reducing the wrist.
