Abstract

Skin changes are seen in a variety of cancers. In this case, a patient was found to have changes consistent with local invasion of the breast tissue by an underlying cancer. Breast cancer can cause a number of visible changes in breast tissue, including nipple inversion, skin puckering, skin thickening and flaking, erythema and skin color changes, ulceration, nipple discharge, and distortion. When such changes are observed, a breast examination is warranted, followed by referral to a breast surgeon.
