Abstract
I have fond memories of the story I am going to tell, which I do not know why has been so deeply imbedded in my subconscious that I seem not to be able to believe it had happened more than thirty years ago. Going back into my memories I have tried to recall as many details as possible from that day, late Spring, 1981, when we met for the first time. It was for sure in my office of Cory Hall, a room on the first floor I shared with another researcher from Russia. Teresa, a nice postgrad student from UPC I had met weeks before, suddenly came in followed by a bearded man, to whom she introduced as professor Trillas. Formalities apart, we understood each other from the very first instant. In the following days, we discovered how many affinities we have in common, both professional and personal. He soon won me all over with his warm and friendly personality.
