Abstract
GIS tasks often involve working with HTML and KML files. You may need to generate an HTML page showing the results of some GIS analysis or you may need to parse the data attributes in the description that pops up when you click on a KML element in Google Earth. HTML and KML files are simply text files that use tags to delineate elements within the data. Chapter 19 discussed how to read and write text files with Python; This chapter explains some additional techniques for working with HTML and KML formats.
