Abstract

Social identity theory on the one hand, migration in general and specifically German-Turks on the other hand are well-researched areas. Yet, there is not much research on German-Turks’ financial investments and nothing on their decision making.

Therefore, I conduct a systematic literature review in order to capture the relevant research evidence to provide a sound basis for my empirical research. The systematic approach comprises the definition of search terms, the documentation of the search itself as well as inclusion and exclusion criteria used to filter the results. Subsequently, I present the relevant research pieces, attempting to carve out factors influencing German-Turks’ social identity and Turkish versus German stereotypes. Due to the lack of suitable literature on German-Turks’ financial investment decisions, I analyze the somewhat contradictory studies in an attempt to categorize financial investment products as rather “German” or “Turkish”.
