Abstract

The benefits of any dispute resolution process can be considered both objectively and based on perception. This chapter explores international arbitration from the viewpoint of the client, in particular, the client who is involved in the resources, energy and construction sectors. This is examined by taking into account a number of recent international arbitration surveys and reflecting on recent procedural initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the arbitration process. Some suggestions are made regarding how international arbitration might better satisfy the client’s expectations.
