Abstract

One of the longest antitrust litigations in history was settled in the Spring of 1985 when thirteen major oil companies settled with approximately 200,000 lessee dealers. The oil companies settled out of court for $25 million and granted the dealers open supply provisions. Some of the background information about the Bogosian settlement, the reactions of lessee dealers and major oil companies, and general marketing ramifications are discussed in this study.
