Abstract

A hospital chief executive officer and general surgeon physician champion are able to initiate transformative changes at a multi-hospital system. Common ground can be transformative in a healthcare setting even if it involves a team of only two leaders. There is no silver bullet to transform the patient experience. However, mutual respect, mutual trust, and good communication are the requisite common ground elements.
