Abstract
Limbal stem cell deficiency is one of the most visually significant ocular surface diseases. It rarely presents in isolation and is always associated with tear film dysfunction and inflammation which can be subclinical. The more severe cases likewise involve conjunctival and eyelid disease. A comprehensive treatment approach that addresses all of the associated diseases of the ocular surface is crucial for achieving long-term success. Of particular importance is improving the environment for the limbal stem cells, specifically the limbal niche. The following cases highlight the medical and surgical treatment options for patients with various etiologies and severity of limbal stem cell deficiency.
