Abstract

This chapter covers the geometrical description of single-walled carbon nanotubes. The geometric definition is based on the chiral vector and chiral angle which allow to imagine a carbon nanotube as rolling a graphene sheet into a cylinder. Configurations as zigzag, armchair, and chiral tube are distinguished. Basic equations for the geometrical description as function of the chiral vector are provided.
