Abstract

A promising method for controlling the response of a rotor blade is by embedding piezocomposite actuators in it. Such actuators are basically composites made of piezoelectric fibers in an epoxy matrix. In this chapter, after a brief introduction of piezoelectric sensors and actuators, the mathematical modeling of such elements is presented and expressed in compressed matrix notation.
