Abstract
During embryogenesis the extra–embryonic yolk sac, fetal liver, preterm bone marrow and developing placenta are spatially and temporarily distinct sites where haemopoiesis occurs. Soon after the implantation of blastocyst erythropoiesis is established and primitive erythroid cells appear in Yolk Sac Blood Island by day 18th of gestation.
